Specialty & Sculling Oars
In addition to our specialty oars shown below we can
make almost any oar you can imagine. From museum reproductions
to oar handrails for your home, call us with your needs.

Made specifically for St Lawrence Skiffs and
those boats which have only a single pin on the rail.
The hole in the heavier cross section of the oar is
dropped over the pin, thereby using it as a pivot.
Various lengths and species are available. |

Popularized by RD Culler, these oars are not lathe-turned, and, because of the hand work necessary, are expensive to produce. The square loom inboard of the oarlock is designed to balance against the outboard weight of the oar. If you feel this style would be to your liking, we'd be glad to discuss it and provide a quote. |

A term coined by lifeboat racing teams in
New Jersey, these spruce oars, while quite light,
are heavier in cross section to provide the strength
for racing. The trade off on these oars is balance,
so they are not recommended for most applications. |

Originally designed for the Seacoast Gunning Float,
our Sculling Oar has proven to be superb for all sculling
boats. The Sculler uses the oar through a hole in the
transom, while lying in a prone position to maintain
cover while hunting.
Made from Native Maine ash, the 7'-10" long oar has
a non-reflective oil finish and is available with an
optional 14" sewn leather. |
